That's not funny. Yucca Mountain funding is not a lock box, and it was provided by rate payers. I would not be happy at all if it were used to bail out Wall Street. We do not need IOU's in the lock box just like Social In-Security.

To me it looks more like the cartoonist is saying, "the US government is just going to bury the debt from the financial "bail out," just like they're going to bury the nuclear waste."
This implies that the debt is as dangerous as high-level radioactive waste. It also implies that burying the spent fuel is a bad idea--I would agree, in that reprocessing is the better solution.
