From an Edmonton Journal story on environmentalists who are now supporting nuclear energy : [D]uring a recent visit to Edmonton, world famous Kenyan paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey also said he'd welcome nuclear power to Africa. People there are energy starved, burning the forest cover to cook meals, he said. If the developed world would help them by building nuclear reactors, they would prevent the release of greenhouse gases and provide many people with a stable energy source to build their lives around, he said.
