More Popular Than Miley Cyrus?

Miley CyrusWell, maybe not, but this news about the Hanford Nuclear Reservation certainly took us by surprise. Per KONA- 610 AM,

The hottest ticket in town appears to be the 60 tour dates set for the Hanford site. The on line registration started just after midnight, and all 2500 slots were filled up before noon. The Department of Energy’s Cameron Hardy says those lucky to get a tour date will see the construction on the massive vitrification plant. Other stops include the historic B reactor and the Hanford Tank farm. Hardy says they purposely decided not to publicize the actual time that registration began this morning. In part, because last year, the system crashed with the number of registrations within the first half hour….just after midnight.

Don't confound weapons production and its detritus with the commercial nuclear power industry. Yes, I know WNP-2 is technically on the Hanford site. But Hanford has little or nothing to do with the commercial power industry. Confounding the two just confuses the undecided and gives antinukes an opening to twist and distort the facts.

Nothing against Hanford, its history or anyone that works there. I'm proud to say I worked there for several years. But Hanford is a different story from the one NEI needs to tell.

Perdajz is right. One need only look at the french nuclear success story"to know how important it is not to confound power and weapons.

another vote for what perdajz and anon say. I'm still disappointed TVA is making tritium at WB.
