Yesterday, President Bush mentioned that the U.S. was going to do more to help other countries to develop peaceful civilian nuclear programs. Here's Energy Secretary Sam Bodman, from a speech he delivered earlier this week to the American-Turkish Council:
I would also suggest that Turkey consider the benefits of clean, safe nuclear power. Nuclear power currently provides one fifth of the electricity in the United States. Worldwide electricity demand is projected to jump 75 percent in the next two decades.
