Given the current state of the CAD/USD exchange rate, Maine may be taking an even bigger risk if it goes with New Brunswick, which will undoubtedly want to be paid in CAD not USD. Of course if the exchange rate improves (from a USD point of view) it could be a good deal. Given that the Canadian government's finances are in a much better position than the US government's - I don't see any improvement in the USD anytime soon.
