In an interview with the Detroit Free Press today, Dearborn Mayor Michael Guido, the new president of the U.S. Council of Mayors, had this to day about energy policy:
Q: As a national leader for cities, what are some of your priorities?Technorati tags: Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Power, Environment, Energy, Politics, Michigan
A: I really want to work on a national energy policy. We've been through oil embargoes and other things. You think we would learn a lesson, but we don't. Every time gas prices hit $3 a gallon or $2 a gallon, we go crazy.
We need to do more than just worry about the price of gas or weaning ourselves off foreign oil. We need a good energy policy. We have to use wind power, solar power, nuclear power. I know nuclear power is a bad word, but every place in the world is using it to provide electricity. It can be safe if it's done properly, and it can be damn efficient and cost-effective.
