Public Opinion in Scotland Turning on Nuclear Energy

From The Times:

MORE Scots now favour building nuclear power stations north of the border than relying solely on alternative sources of energy, according to a new survey.

A YouGov poll commissioned by The Sunday Times reveals that 45% of Scots believe existing stations should be replaced at the end of their working lives compared with 37% who think they should not be replaced.

The poll shows support for nuclear has risen since the start of the year when an ICM poll for the BBC found that 51% of Scots were against building new nuclear power stations north of the border, compared with just 33% in favour.
Back in April, we noted that organized labor was going to work to drum up more support in favor of nuclear energy. Combined with the growing realization that the U.K. runs the risk of becoming overdependent on Russian natural gas, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that these numbers are turning once folks get all the facts.
